For over 150 years the Daughters of Charity provided holistic healthcare in the St. Louis area addressing needs of the sick, the poor, the vulnerable. In 1995, to continue this commitment, the Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis (DCFSL) was established. Since its inception, the foundation has focused on health and wellness education, primary and preventive health care and social services. More than 600 agencies have been funded with over $26 million in grants.
The Foundation's board periodically has conducted environmental scans and literature reviews to identify critical issues in the St. Louis metropolitan region. Generally the board picks 2-3 primary areas in which to focus its support for responsive grants. These areas are identified in the Funding Interests section of the website.
DCFSL strives to provide assistance and work with those who likewise desire to embrace the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
