Phase One - Letter of Intent

Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis (DCFSL) now uses the Common Grant Application (CGA) Short Form for its Letter of Intent.  The CGA Short Form can be accessed by clicking on the link below.

Please note:  DCFSL has tailored the CGA to its specific requirements, so this version of the application should not be used with other funders.

Before completing the CGA Short Form, please read the following information.

The Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis (DCFSL) requires that a Letter of Intent (LOI) be submitted to the Foundation prior to any proposal for a responsive grant.  All LOIs will receive a response which will indicate whether or not DCFSL would like to review a full proposal.  LOIs are due in the office no later than 4:30pm, February 1st or August 1st.  If the date falls on a weekend, the LOI is due in the Foundation office the Friday before. 

Letters of Intent will receive a response within three weeks.  If an organization is asked to submit a full proposal, it will be due three weeks from the date of notification.  Agencies are encouraged to call the office at (314) 802-2060
to discuss project ideas prior to submitting a Letter of Intent.

The DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY FOUNDATION of St. Louis will accept Letters of Intent for projects within the following focus areas of: 

     1.  Immigrants/Refugees
     2.  Seniors Living Independently (choose one category)
                * Consumer Education & Case Management
                * Home Repairs
                * Transportation
                * Adult Day Care/Respite
                * Mental Health
     3.  Youth Violence Prevention

Eligibility Requirements:

  • DCFSL will not consider another request for funding (letter of intent) until a status report has been received and approved for a current grant. Status reports must be submitted to the DCFSL office at least two weeks prior to the due date for a letter of intent.  *One year grants are for a full 12 month period, even if funds are expended before 12 months and a status report has been submitted and approved.  The foundation will not accept or process another grant request before the 12 months are completed.
     
  • Have 501(c) 3 or other nonprofit status.
     
  • Be located in the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area consisting of the Missouri counties of Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis, Warren, Washington and St. Louis City or Illinois counties of Clinton, Calhoun, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, St. Clair, Bond and Macoupin.
     
  • Practices for any applicant organization should be consistent with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Services located at http://www.usccb.org. (This link will direct you to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops website where you may search under “Ethical & Religious Directives”).
     
  • Must support one of the Foundation focus areas of Immigrants/Refugees or Seniors Living Independently or Youth Violence Prevention.
ONLY ONE COPY OF THE LETTER OF INTENT/CGA IS NEEDED
No handwritten applications will be accepted.
