Foundation Recognition Announcements
 
The Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis received the  Heart and Cross Award from Cardinal Ritter Senior Services (CRSS) Board of Directors. This award is given annually to an individual, organization or family that supports senior adults without resources. The Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis partners with CRSS to provide transportation to low income seniors.

Hoyleton Ministries presented its 2011 Community Service Award to the Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis for its support of programs that impact those who are poor and vulnerable by improving behaviors enhance healthy lifestyles and enable individuals and communities to help themselves. Through funding received from the Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis, Hoyleton Ministries has been able to expand its services to the Latino community in the Metro-east St. Louis area.

The Gateway Center for Giving recently honored the Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis with its 2011 Excellence in Grantmaking Giving is FAR REACHING Award. This award recognizes donors who help nonprofit organizations realign their programs and strategies to better meet the needs of those they serve during these difficult economic times. The Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis was nominated by Rebuilding Together-St. Louis for its work with the Home Repair Network (HRN) to keep non-profit home repair providers connected to one another in a meaningful way, enabling better provision of services to its clients.   With funding from the Daughters of Charity Foundation, the HRN was able to grow into a sustainable network of agencies dedicated to meeting the critical housing needs of low-income homeowners in the St. Louis Metro area. 
 
Since August 2010, the network has made 205 referrals.
            30%     lived in City of St. Louis
            42%     lived in St. Louis County
            25%     lived in St. Charles County
 
            42%     of all referrals were 60 years or older
            38%     of all referrals were 40 – 50 years
         13%    of all referrals were 20 – 40 year

FOCUS AREA CHANGES

The Daughters of Charity Foundation of St. Louis has made the following changes to the Foundation's areas of interest:

  • Within the Seniors Living Independently focus area, a new category on Seniors Mental Health was added.
     
  • Two (2) new focus areas  on Immigrants/Refugees and Youth Violence Prevention were added.
     
  • The focus area on Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention was discontinued.
